Thrilled to have been selected as one of nine runners up for the Dorset Art Weeks brochure cover competition!
Delighted to say I've just completed my application to take part in DAW 2018!
Now to get to work.....
I envisage many mixed works as I have so many un-followed paths as a result of my 2 year confinement. Probably some smaller works to enable quicker expression with prints and cards available too.
For the last two+ years I've been poorly with hyperparathyroidism and hashimotos thyroiditis, it's really affected my life and my ability to work. It's not just the fatigue, but the brain fog that is so debilitating - I have trouble reading, can't focus on a task, get lost in overwhelm. Work has been sloooow! In theory I'm on my way to better health, in the meantime I'm applying myself where I can and this means small, manageable work. Creativity is a wonderful healing tool and I'm deeply grateful for it.
New work started... hurrah! Fragile - of course, beautiful - probably, interesting - undoubtedly, easy to store, stack or sell - no ;)
Dorset Art Weeks has been a lovely event so far, plenty of visitors and great feedback:
'We are delighted with the response we have had from visitors to our inaugural exhibition at Red Barn Studios.
Many have commented on the high standard of work and on their interest in the different disciplines we offer as a group.'
I am exhibiting amongst 60+ other Dorset artists within the 'Interrogating' groups.
The sub-group I'm involved in is 'Interrogating Materials', we are a multi-disciplined group very interested in process and matter.
The piece I am exhibiting is a mixed media mobile inspired by a still life the group had constructed to use as a common starting point.
